Cool Roof Rules and Dense Rental Property

Since May 6, 2019, roof material in Lawndale must comply with the Los Angeles County Cool Roof Technical Requirements. That matters on deck work more than it sounds, because roof decks and covered balcony structures often sit right on the boundary between roofing and decking, and the material decision has to satisfy both sets of expectations.

Lawndale runs 10,286 housing units at 5,216 per square mile, with only about a third owner occupied, so the majority of what we do here is shared: walkways, open stairs and stacked balconies on rental property.
